When we found interesting video, sometimes we want to catch it to put, for example in wallpaper or edited it for another reason. Try yourself, you can’t do that with Print Screen button. Then how to solve this problem? In this post, I’ll present trick to catch that pictures if you use specific software below.
Windows Media Player (WMP)
If you use windows media Player (Windows player default), push CTRL+I to save picture in WMP format. If this trick is fail, try to do this:
- Open Tools > Options
- Choose Performance tab
- In Video acceleration, slide the slider to None

- Click Apply and OK to save the configuration.
After this setting, you can capture the picture with normal Print Screen in keyboard. Paste it in Paint.exe, IrfanView, Photoshop or other picture editing softaware you like.
If you finish capturing, Slide the slider back to Full to make your player normal again. Don’t forget this step, otherwise your video player work weird.
Media Player Classic (MPC)
This is free player included in a package with codec such as K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, which able to run almost all of video format. Although you can find Save Image Menu in File menu (Alt+I), but when you click this, sometimes you will receive error message telling that picture can’t be saved.
To solve this problem, follow this steps:
- In Menubar, open Options window ( View > Options, or use shortcut O in keyboard)
- Choose Playback > Output
- In DirectShow Video, Choose Haali Renderer
- Click Apply and OK to save this configuration.
After this setting, you should able to save picture using menu File > Save image ( Alt+I). You can download K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, here : download main
GOM Player
If you still unfamiliar with this player, try it now. Because this player, just like Media Player Classic above, able to run almost any media format, but in a smaller size. Unfortunately, sometimes we must download specific codec to run specific video format which not included in pack.
To save picture in GOM Player is vey easy, open Control Panel menu in GOM Player ( ClickIcon shown below or push F7).

New window will be appear. Click screen Capture (CTRL+E).

When we click Screen Capture (Ctrl+E), the picture will be saved automatically. As a default, your picture will be saved in My Documents/GOMPlayer/Capture. If you want to change this location, set in Advanced Capture ( Ctrl+G).

With Advanced Capture, we can change picture location , picture format / quality, Burst capture (saving many images in one time), copy to clipboard and save image as Wallpaper. To download GOM PLayer, click this link : GOMLab
